![]() ![]() The Underlords are still fundamentally bad for the game and they should just remove them So yeah I don't think Valve can't be blame for this one. Unfortunately tho, Tencent (the company that bought Drodo) is many many times bigger than Valve so I'm pretty sure the offer they gave Drodo was probably hella good and plus Drodo is a chinese company, you be a fool not to work with the biggest gaming company in China and also the world. Yup I agree, Underlords needs it's own Icefrog or a dedicated team. I just wanna love this game, I used to play dota 2 a lot I stopped because it was getting frustrating and stressful so when they said they making their own autochess even a card game I was hella happy but. I don't know if it's valve own doing or lack of doing. Instead of fixing stuff they chose the easy way out.Īt this point tho, I don't even know anymore. When they introduced jail I thought it was a great idea tho it did required a little tweaking but it was a great way to make the game less stale and avoid the hero rotation (I don't want to see hero getting removed). Which brings us back to here, I believe that underlords needs better decision making from the team. Probably why their single player games are great and their multiplayer games are alright. This tells you that Valve can make great game, they just can't maintain them. This is speculation of course but it was pretty obvious he took a break. People knew it was him because he mistakenly use the old dota item name for the changes. Not long ago, there were talks about him taking a vacation and someone else from Valve did the updating and apparently gave the game one of the worst update the game ever received (I'm not sure I don't play the game anymore I just follow r/dota2) so when he came back he basically reverted everything. Without the frozen toad, imo dota 2 would be in a similar place as their recent projects. Second, the "still alive" state wouldn't last long with the current player numbers trajectory unless they give it the Artifact 2.0 treatment and go for a major overhaul and re-release with a new approach.Īnother thing that makes dota 2 work is the great balancing.First, I'm talking about why it is declining rapidly since release and I'm not arguing you can't find games and shouldn't enjoy it (while it lasts). ![]() It's been fun, you guys are awesome, it's a shame the game didn't reach it's potential!Įdit: the "I can find games so it's not dead" argument totally misses the point of the discussion. Link to the full article: Why did Dota Underlords die?Īnyway, this is likely the last time I write about Underlords and the last time I post in this sub. I'm also interested to learn what you guys think. I don't expect a lot of people here would agree with me, but I think a lot of you will find the discussion interesting nonetheless. Valve misunderstood heavily how the casual mobile strategy game market works in 2020 and failed to promote the game efficiently.Valve misunderstood why people played Auto Chess in the first place and in as a result - in what direction they should have taken the game, partly due to listening to the vocal, hardcore player minority.
